2020 NFL Draft grades for every team: Cowboys ace test, Packers falter

Green Bay Packers
There were some head-scratching moments in the 2020 NFL Draft, which is usually the case each year. However, no one seemed to make more interesting moves than the Green Bay Packers did with their first two picks. First up was their selection in Round 1, where they traded up for Utah quarterback Jordan Love.
Yes, Aaron Rodgers is 36-years old but with their desperation for more offensive weapons, why move up for Love? Not only that, but the relationship between Rodgers and head coach Matt LaFleur was already a little tenuous. Adding a quarterback of LaFleur’s choosing won’t help in that area.
Green Bay then used their second-round pick on Boston College running back A.J. Dillon despite there being some options at wideout such as Bryan Edwards from South Carolina. Dillon is a talented player but they already have two good running backs including Aaron Jones who is coming off a breakout season.
Their next selection was tight end Josiah Deguara at No. 94. The Cincinnati product has a lot to like but again, this wasn’t a major need. The Packers already have Jace Sternberger who was taken at No. 75 last season and for the past few years they have struggled to get one tight end involved, let alone two.
The players selected weren’t bad but they didn’t significantly improve their starting team considering their top three picks are all backups, at best, in 2020. That’s not how you build around a 36-year old quarterback coming off a 13-win season and a trip to the NFC Championship game.
