Houston Texans

No one needed a good draft as desperately as Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien did. He was being lambasted for some interesting moves, and since taking over as the primary decision-maker in Houston, he has done nothing but make questionable moves.

None were more questionable than when he traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals, after oddly comparing him to Aaron Hernandez according to the wideout. The Hopkins trade cost them one of two draft picks they had in the second round. They also were without a first-round selection as they traded that one to the Miami Dolphins for Laremy Tunsil — and they won’t have a day one pick next season either due to that trade.

O’Brien even gave up one of their two third-round picks for Duke Johnson which seems even more odd after going after another running back, David Johnson, in their trade with Arizona for Hopkins. And unfortunately, after all that, the Texans simply had an okay draft.

Ross Blacklock was their top pick at No. 40 overall but with his lack of pass-rushing prowess he likely just replaces D.J. Reader who wile talented, was landed with a fifth-round pick. Jonathan Greenard could end up being a decent pass rusher but again, this wasn’t a massive priority for them.

This wasn’t the best draft which isn’t what they needed after this offseason where they lost one of their biggest stars.
