2020 NFL Draft grades for every team: Cowboys ace test, Packers falter
By Randy Gurzi
Minnesota Vikings
Armed with an extra pick due to the Stefon Diggs trade, the Minnesota Vikings were on the clock three times in the first 58 selections of the 2020 NLF Draft and they landed three players who could be long-term starters for them.
First up was Justin Jefferson, who will slide into the spot vacated by Diggs as the No. 2 receiver opposite Adam Thielen. For their offense, this means they will continue to be able to attack through the air should teams decide to sell out in an effort to slow down Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.
Minnesota then dropped down with their second pick, moving to No. 31 where they still got a starting-caliber cornerback in Jeff Gladney from TCU. He’s going to help ease the loss of Trae Waynes, Xavier Rhodes, and Mackensie Alexander. He will also be joined by Cameron Dantzler, the cornerback from Mississippi State who they took at 89.
Ezra Cleveland was another solid pick, their second-round selection that could replace Riley Reiff, who hasn’t lived up to expectations. Their most questionable move was reaching for D.J. Wonnum in Round 4, but landing Kenny Willekes in the seventh feels like a huge steal — as was Troy Dye, the Oregon linebacker they got in the fourth.
There were 15 overall picks and while not all will make the team, they surely will have unearthed some gems.
