Round 3, Pick 66: Antonio Gibson, RB/WR

Welp, one of the biggest needs for the Redskins was simply “weapons”. Ron Rivera and company seem sold on Dwayne Haskins as their starting quarterback. That’s 100 percent the right move, but they also need to make sure they get him help. Haskins is extremely young, and so are his weapons. Even more important though, he has very few of them.

That’s where Antonio Gibson out of Memphis comes in to play. The Redskins snatched him up with the 66th overall pick. Probably a little later than a lot of people thought he’d fall.

Gibson is a freak. And even better, he’ll help them immediately. Gibson will absolutely be a returner for them and is a huge upgrade there. So if nothing else, he’s already got that carved out as a role. Meanwhile, he gives Washington a ton of versatility on offense.

He has massive potential at receiver and could use that ridiculous speed to find himself open often. At the same time, he can work well as a running back and will allow the Redskins to run a number of different schemes.

This will help make things so much easier on Haskins. When Gibson is lined up out there, the defense will have no idea what’s going to happen. And that gives Washington a pretty distinct advantage. The fact that it appears they want to use him in all types of ways only makes this even more exciting.

Gibson has the potential of a legitimate star. Therefore, you have to love them getting him in the third round.
