2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
No one really knows what to expect from the Houston Texans in 2020 when considering this team already pulled off a crazy surprise trade this offseason that resulted in DeAndre Hopkins ending up on the Arizona Cardinals.
While the Texans had every right to trade Hopkins like each team does for any player on the roster, it was still somewhat surprising since they could have easily received more in return.
Houston was already facing heavy pressure to return as a top contender in the AFC next season following their embarrassing performance in the Divisional Round last January to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now that Hopkins is no longer around, it will be interesting to see how the Texans look on offense in 2020, but if this team is going to have any shot at returning to the playoffs, the defense will need to be on top of their game as well.
J.J. Watt will always be considered the top defender on Houston’s defense when healthy, but bringing on another big body in Ross Blacklock should help take some of the unnecessary pressure off the Houston veteran.
For a second-round pick, Blacklock has all sorts of potential to see significant playing time as a rookie, and hopefully help keep the Texans elite in the AFC.
