2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
Could 2020 be Derek Carr’s final chance to prove himself worth at quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders?
Two years ago, the whole point of hiring Jon Gruden as the new head coach for the Raiders was due to his previous experience of quarterback development to help Carr elevate his game to new levels.
The verdict is still out there over whether this will be the case, but two years later, Las Vegas has yet to reach the playoffs under Gruden and even brought Marcus Mariota on board in free agency to give Carr a little extra competition.
Time will tell when it comes to seeing if this helps push Carr, but at least the Raiders quarterback has an exciting new weapon to work with in the passing game in Henry Ruggs III.
While some football fans were surprised over Las Vegas selecting Ruggs this high when looking at how all the other receivers were still available, the Alabama product’s speed alone makes this an intriguing option for Las Vegas.
As long as Ruggs fits right in, maybe there will be hope for the Raiders to finally come through as a playoff contender in the AFC during their first year in Las Vegas.
