2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
Without question, the Los Angeles Chargers made the right decision this offseason moving on from Philip Rivers when seeing how the veteran quarterback took a bit of a step back last season.
Even if the argument can be made the Chargers should have given Rivers another chance the Indianapolis Colts feel confident enough in his abilities, this was still the right decision by Los Angeles.
At the moment, the Chargers believe that Tyrod Taylor is at least the short-term answer under center, despite recently drafting Justin Herbert following an amazing career at Oregon.
Knowing Los Angeles, the team will do everything in their power to allow Herbert to develop a year or two behind Taylor before handing him the keys to the offense.
But also, there have been plenty of rookie quarterbacks over the years who develop quicker than expected, and if this ends up being the case with Herbert, the Chargers certainly wouldn’t be afraid to make the switch in 2020 if needed.
Talent-wise, most quarterbacks would love to run an offense with the kind of weapons Los Angeles has to work with, and the Chargers should be thrilled to have a new quarterback in Huburt to build the offense around for years to come.
