2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
Did the Los Angeles Rams miss their window to win a Super Bowl when looking at some of the key changes made on both sides of the football this offseason?
One can only imagine how difficult it was for the Rams to part ways with Todd Gurley after all these years when seeing everything the former Georgia star did for the offense over the years, but hopefully Cam Akers can help fill the void.
Los Angeles certainly hopes to see Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson step up since the opportunity is there, but the Rams never would have used such a high pick on Akers if they didn’t feel confident enough in the Florida State product taking on a significant role.
After previously earning a trip to the Super Bowl, Los Angeles failed to even earn a Wild Card spot in the NFC last season, meaning the pressure is going to be on more than ever to bounce back.
The Rams are fortunate enough to have plenty of weapons to work with on the offensive side of the football, and hopefully Jared Goff benefits from Akers taking off a little extra pressure since the Los Angeles quarterback will be facing heavy pressure as well.
Akers’ numbers with the Seminoles don’t exactly stand out like some of the other top running backs from the draft, but at least the opportunity to work with Sean McVay has the chance to work wonders.
