2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
With only four draft picks this year, the New Orleans Saints certainly did their best to take advantage of bringing on the necessary talent.
And while it was great to see the Saints boost the offensive line in the first round by selecting Michigan’s Cesar Ruiz, their most valuable pick might have come in the third round with Zack Baun out of Wisconsin.
First off, it was absolutely shocking to still see Baun on the board this late on Day 2 since there was previous speculation the Badgers star could even end up as a surprise first-round pick.
Normally, the Saints receive the most praise for their high-powered offense led by Drew Brees, but the defense has actually stepped up big time in recent years to make them a serious threat within the NFC.
If Baun manages to quickly prove doubters wrong that he should have been selected in one of the first two rounds, this will only make New Orleans that much stronger on defense.
After suffering heartbreak in the playoffs for three years in a row, the Saints hope to see better results this time around in 2020, especially if Baun turns out to be a third-round steal for the defending NFC South champions.
