2020 NFL Draft: Every team’s best pick – Joe Burrow, Chase Young and who else?
By Dan Parzych
Xavier McKinney rightfully had plenty of reasons to be disappointed over failing to go in the first round of the draft, but the New York Giants were obviously thrilled to see the Alabama safety still available when they were on the clock in the second round.
One of the best parts about the draft for teams is when picks with first-round talent happen to slip into other rounds, which was the situation with McKinney.
As previously mentioned, the Crimson Tide have a strong reputation for seeing plenty of their former defenders go on to have successful NFL careers, and the NFC East better be on high alert now that McKinney is officially part of the picture.
The case can be made that Andrew Thomas deserves to be on this list since the Giants clearly needed to boost the protection for Daniel Jones on the offensive line, but also keep in mind the pick came as a bit of a surprise for most football fans.
Since McKinney seems to be in better position to have a successful NFL career, he deserves to take home the honors for New York since the safety could help the Giants be in great position to emerge as a potential sleeper contender in the NFC.
