Green Bay Packers: Re-doing every 2020 NFL Draft pick to fix the class
Round 3, Pick 94: Josiah Deguara, TE, Cincinnati
Redo Pick: Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic (No. 115)
There were actually plenty of fans of the Josiah Deguara selection. Some might even say that he was one of the Packers’ best selections in the 2020 NFL Draft. That may be true but that’s also not a particularly high bar to clear in this instance. Nonetheless, it’s not hard to see where the Packers see value in Deguara.
Deguara is a safe pick. He’s a tough player and that shows up on his tape as he’s a willing and effective blocker. He’s also not a complete wash as a receiver but he’s also not a player that should be considered a dynamic weapon for the passing offense. Therein lies the rub too as that’s what the Packers should’ve been looking for at tight end.
That’s why the redo pick is Harrison Bryant out of Florida Atlantic. He fell into the fourth round but he has the chance to be a weapon in any NFL passing offense. Bryant was one of the most productive tight ends in college football with 65 catches for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior.
Make no mistake, Bryant is not in the same vein as Deguara as he’s ineffective as a blocker currently. He needs to become stronger and more willing to be used in an in-line role. However, his upside as a move tight end and receiving threat with great hands and enough athleticism would’ve made him the better third-round pick for the Packers.
