Green Bay Packers: Re-doing every 2020 NFL Draft pick to fix the class
Round 4, Pick 136: Traded to Miami to move up for Love
Redo Pick: Jason Strowbridge, DL, North Carolina (No. 154)
It’s still baffling to me that the Packers traded this pick. It was completely unnecessary. They were sitting at No. 30 and the four teams picking ahead of them at No. 26-29 were not seemingly in the market for Jordan Love. So they wasted a top-150 pick to move up and make a bad selection.
So in the draft redo, they hold on to No. 136 and select Jason Strowbridge out of North Carolina. The Packers need defensive line depth and the UNC product is an enticing option there. While he’s a bit undersized for a traditional defensive tackle role, using him as a situational rusher could make him a worthwhile selection for the right defensive mind.
Round 5, Pick 175: Kamal Martin, LB, Minnesota
Redo Pick: Netane Muti, OG, Fresno State (No. 181)
To be sure, I don’t necessarily hate the Kamal Martin pick. He’s a fine prospect who can contribute on special teams early on and has enough tools to potentially develop into a rotational player. But with linebacker already addressed early in this draft redo, the offensive line is the focus.
Had injuries not ended two full seasons for Netane Muti at Fresno State, he would’ve been a top 60 pick in my book. His tape is that good as a combination of power and mobility on the interior. If healthy, he could be a steal here as Muti would be an upgrade at guard over Billy Turner and really fortify this line.
Round 6, Pick 192: Jon Runyan Jr., OL, Michigan
Redo Pick: James Proche, WR, SMU (No. 201)
Back to the wide receiver room we go and the Packers could’ve landed a truly exciting threat to their offense. James Proche doesn’t necessarily fit the bill as a big-body receiver that Green Bay has targeted in recent years as he’s under 6-0. However, the SMU product has glue on his hands and can make any play on any level of the field. He’s also a nice technician with the ability to get open, which would’ve been valuable in continuing to upgrade the offense in place.
