2020 NFL Power Rankings, post-draft: Cowboys big winners, Packers major losers
By Dan Parzych
As expected, the Miami Dolphins decided to take the chance on Tua Tagovailoa in the first round of this year’s draft, despite some of the concerns over his ability to stay healthy.
Take this into consideration with the fact that Miami also upgraded in protection for their potential quarterback of the future by drafting Austin Jackson and Robert Hunt, the Dolphins had a pretty successful draft for the most part.
The decision by Miami to go with cornerback Noah Igbinoghene towards the end of the first round seems questionable since there were other needs the Dolphins could have focused on with the selection.
But also, Tagovailoa was the most important factor here, as fans finally have a reason to be excited about their beloved football team again down in Miami.
Despite some of the concerns early on last season over the possibility of going winless in 2019, the Dolphins did actually show some spark towards the end of the year and even ended things on a high note by upsetting the New England Patriots in Week 17.
Time will tell when it comes to determining whether the Eagles will go with Tagovailoa right away or allow him to ease his way in by learning from the sidelines as a rookie, but even if the Alabama product starts off as the No. 2, the long run is most important here for the Dolphins.
