Tyrod Taylor may be the short-term answer for the Los Angeles Chargers after making the previous decision to move on from Philip Rivers earlier in the offseason, but at least the offense will have a new reason to be excited about the future with Justin Herbert.
Over the last few months, there was plenty of speculation over the possibility of the Oregon product ending up with the Chargers, and now that Los Angeles has made it official with Herbert, the fun part comes in watching the young quarterback develop.
Despite the Chargers missing out on the playoffs last season due to their inability to close out numerous key games, the good news for both Taylor and Herbert is the offense is loaded with talent for both quarterbacks to work with.
From one of the league’s top wide receivers in Keenan Allen to Austin Ekeler expected to take on a larger role now that Melvin Gordon is out of the picture, Los Angeles has plenty to work with on offense for the 2020 season.
Not to mention, with the Chargers having some of the league’s most effective defenders in players like Joey Bosa, there are numerous reasons to believe this team can return to the level of being a top contender, even if Herbert watches from the sidelines for a year before taking over.
