. . Previous: 21st. Las Vegas Raiders. 20. team. 28

Thanks to having numerous picks in the first round, the Las Vegas Raiders were able to address both sides of the football early on in the recent draft.

After deciding to go with a speedy receiver in Henry Ruggs III at No. 12, the Raiders were also able to help fill their need a cornerback a few picks later with Damon Arnette at No. 19.

The decision to go with Arnette this early was a little surprising since the cornerback was projected to be a second-round pick, but when seeing all of the great defenders Ohio State has produced over the years, this was clearly worth the risk for Las Vegas.

As for Ruggs, well the Alabama product was already considered to be a top wideout from the 2020 class, but his impressive performance at the combine helped elevate his stock to new levels leading up to the draft.

Some will questions whether the Raiders would have been better off with a different receiver at No. 12, but as long as he can develop the necessary chemistry with Derek Carr, this should pay off big time for Las Vegas.

Jon Gruden knows the pressure is on more than ever in 2020 after missing out on the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and hopefully Ruggs can provide the necessary spark to this offense in desperate need of improvement, or it’s going to be another rough season.
