2020 NFL Power Rankings, post-draft: Cowboys big winners, Packers major losers
By Dan Parzych
Remember all of the hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns last season as a potential Super Bowl contender in the AFC?
As the Browns and their fans would go on to find out, the team came nowhere close to living up to the high expectations in 2019 after winning just six games, putting extra pressure on the team entering Kevin Stefanski’s first season as head the new head coach.
When looking at all of the talent Cleveland is fortune enough to work with on both sides of the football, the team certainly seems capable of living up to the hype this time around, although whether this happens will most likely come down to the play of Baker Mayfield under center.
Mayfield took plenty of criticism for failing to live up to the high expectations last season, despite having two reliable weapons to work with at wide receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.
On a positive note, at least Mayfield should receive a major upgrade in protection now that Jedrick Wills is part of the picture after the Browns decided to invest their first-round pick on the Alabama standout.
Give Cleveland credit for addressing their need to protect Mayfield right away, as a move like this along with a few others could help the Browns take that leap to a contender, even if this seems like a long shot at the moment.
