9. team. 49. . . Previous: 6th. Green Bay Packers

The first round of the draft was filled with numerous surprises, but it’s difficult to top the Green Bay Packers trading up to select Jordan Love.

With all due respect to Love since the Utah State star was considered to go in the first or second round of the draft, but the fact that Aaron Rodgers is still playing at a high level makes it seem like there is going to be controversy surrounding the Packers.

If anything, Green Bay should have taken advantage of selecting a top wide receiver for Rodgers to work with, and focused on finding a potential quarterback of the future in one of the later rounds.

As great as it is for Rodgers to work with Davante Adams since the wideout has become one of the best players in the league at his position, beyond the star receiver is a different story for the Packers.

Last January in the NFC Championship loss to the San Francisco 49ers made it clear just how desperate Green Bay is for help beyond Adams since none of the younger guys managed to step up.

Love could certainly turn out to be a great option for the Packers under center in the long run, but for now, it’s easy for Rodgers and the fan base to feel frustrated over the team failing to bring on even a single receiver during the draft.
