2020 NFL Power Rankings, post-draft: Cowboys big winners, Packers major losers
By Dan Parzych
After months of speculation, the Cincinnati Bengals finally made official what most football fans assumed all along that Joe Burrow would be selected as the top overall pick following a record-breaking season in 2019 at LSU.
As frustrated as Andy Dalton may feel over this situation since the Bengals haven’t exactly set him up to succeed in the best way possible over the years, Burrow’s potential was simply too good to pass on for the top overall pick.
With that being said, just because there is plenty of excitement surrounding Burrow doesn’t necessarily guarantee he is going to find success right away, even if the young quarterback has already been studying Cincinnati’s offense pretty hard over the last few weeks.
On a positive note, as great as it is to consider that Burrow will have A.J. Green to work with as a top target in the passing game, the Bengals also managed to take advantage of Tee Higgins still being available in the second round.
Now that Burrow and Higgins will be in position to grow together at the NFL level for years to come, maybe there are reasons to be excited about the direction Cincinnati is heading, although they still have plenty to prove first.
