42. . WR. San Francisco 49ers. Dante Pettis. 4. player

49ers receiver Dante Pettis has fallen out of favor under coach Kyle Shanahan. Deebo Samuel broke out as a rookie in 2019 and San Fran drafted Brandon Aiyuk in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Kendrick Bourne and Jalen Hurd also appear to be ahead of Pettis on the depth chart at the moment, thus making him expendable.

A former second-round draft choice out of Washington, Pettis had a respectable rookie season in 2018, hauling in 27 receptions for 467 yards and five touchdowns. He took a backseat role in his sophomore campaign, though, logging just 11 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns, appearing in just 11 games.

Pettis appears to be the odd man out and could be on the trade block. The Packers obviously need help at the receiver position and likely could acquire Pettis for a late-round draft pick. Trading away a player like Josh Jackson could be beneficial, as well. A change of scenery could do both Pettis and Jackson good.

Pettis would be no guarantee to make the Packers’ final roster, but he’d provide ample competition for a young receiver room. If Pettis can get over the mental hurdle that’s been bogging him down the past two seasons, he could easily develop into a reliable NFL receiver.
