Green Bay Packers: 5 Receiver trade targets following 2020 NFL Draft
By Joe Kipp
Sticking with the theme of receivers who could be the odd man out on their respective team, the Broncos’ receiver room is extremely crowded after the team selected two wideouts (Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler) in the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
With Courtland Sutton occupying the No. 1 spot, DaeSean Hamilton could be on the outside looking in behind Jeudy, Hamler and Tim Patrick. Both Jeudy and Hamler figure to be deployed out of the slot for the majority of their snaps, which is where Hamilton thrives.
Drafted in the fourth round in 2018, Hamilton, 25, enjoyed a storied career at Penn State. He finished his college career as the school’s all-time leader in receptions (214) and third all-time in receiving yards (2,842). He once recorded 14 receptions in a single game. Something else that’s cool about Hamilton? He was born in Japan.
Hamilton’s first two seasons in the NFL haven’t been too promising, though. He’s logged just seven starts (30 appearances), hauling in a mere 58 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns. Perhaps the Packers could help change the trajectory of his career by providing the talented wideout with a change of scenery. A late-round pick would be enough to acquire him.
