Green Bay Packers: 5 Receiver trade targets following 2020 NFL Draft
By Joe Kipp
Panthers receiver Curtis Samuel has been rumored as a potential trade target for a while now, and trading for him makes even more sense after the Packers didn’t take a receiver in the draft. Drafted in the second round back in 2017, the fourth-year receiver has shown growth in each of his previous three seasons in the NFL.
Still just 23 years old, Samuel has the speed (4.31-second 40-yard dash) the Packers offense lacks. In his first three years, he’s racked up 108 receptions for 1,236 yards and 11 touchdowns. While his stats may not be impressive on the surface, Samuel has dealt with inconsistency at the quarterback position and appears primed for a breakout season in 2020.
Green Bay would be wise to check in on the status of Samuel, especially after the Panthers signed Robby Anderson to a big deal in free agency. Samuel could be expendable, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Packers could acquire him for a fifth-rounder.
