The Dallas Cowboys make a surprise cut on the defensive line and switch a position of a starter in their secondary in this 53-man roster prediction.

With the majority of the big free agency moves and the NFL Draft behind us, we now have a better idea of how the Dallas Cowboys roster is going to look in 2020. Head coach Mike McCarthy took over a talented team and with the work of the front office in Big D, he now has even more to work with. And he has a shiny new backup as well.

Dallas was somewhat aggressive (for them) in free agency, landing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Dontari Poe, and Gerald McCoy. Those moves set them up perfectly for the 2020 NFL Draft as they were able to draft for talent ahead of need — which was something that had hurt them in the past.

Now armed with new player thanks to a solid draft class, we look at how the roster might shake out with this far too early 53-man roster prediction.

Quarterback (2): Dak Prescott, Andy Dalton

There’s a lot of talk surrounding Dak Prescott but if anyone thinks he’s not getting a long-term extension with Dallas, they’re fooling themselves. He’s not a perfect quarterback but he’s proven he can win and the Cowboys need him to steer the bus with all their explosive weapons if they hope to get anywhere in 2020.

Behind Prescott this season will be Andy Dalton, who recently signed with the team. His addition will give them a solid veteran backup and also looks to spell the end for Cooper Rush. A former undrafted signing in 2017, Rush has been the primary backup but Dalton’s experience makes this an easy decision.

Ben DiNucci was added out of James Madison as a seventh-round pick and at this point, it’s hard to imagine him making the roster. Of course, that could change should he show out in the preseason but right now it looks like the practice squad is where he’s headed.
