The Dallas Cowboys special draft could help them improve on the field but it could also lead to these three veterans being left off the 53-man roster
It’s not hyperbole to say that the Dallas Cowboys 2020 draft class was the best they have had in recent memory. While the 2016 class did land them superstars such as running back Ezekiel Elliott, linebacker Jaylon Smith, and quarterback Dak Prescott, the 2020 class feels as though it could lead to even more starters than that class did.
First up is Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who has the potential to be one of the best wideouts in the game. His combination of size, speed, and catch radius made him a star for the Sooners and putting him on the same field as Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup feels unfair. Dallas never expected him to be there at No. 17 but once he did slide, they were stoked to make the pick.
There were also cornerbacks Trevon Diggs (second-round pick from Alabama) and Reggie Robinson (fourth-round pick from Tulsa) who could each become household names. In between those two corners, Dallas landed defensive tackle Neville Gallimore.
For good measure, they traded back into the fourth round for Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz and then took Utah EDGE Bradlee Anae in the fifth.
The only player who was taken in this class that feels as though he isn’t a lock to make the team is Ben DiNucci, the James Madison quarterback they took in the final round. As great as this draft was, there’s a solid chance that these three veterans might not be able to make the final 53-man roster.
