2. Jourdan Lewis, Cornerback

Another shocking cut could come in the secondary for Dallas. While a lot was made of them allowing Byron Jones to leave in free agency, the front office did manage to bring in a lot of talent. In the draft, they picked up Trevon Diggs from Alabama and Reggie Robinson from Tulsa which could give them a starter this season and one down the road.

More from Dallas Cowboys

In free agency, they added Maurice Canady early on, and then after adding Diggs and Robinson in the draft, they signed Daryl Worley. Neither of those players has a Pro Bowl resume but they fit the scheme new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan wants to run perfectly.

This could be bad news for someone such as Jourdan Lewis who has a lot of talent ahead of him now. Not only is Dallas bringing in the aforementioned names, but they are also returning Chidobe Awuzie who has been their starter opposite Jones and Anthony Brown, their nickel corner who just signed a new contract.

There has been some talk amongst the front office about moving Awuzie to safety, a position he played in college at Colorado. However, if this doesn’t happen, it could become hard for Lewis to make the team.

Lewis is a talented cornerback and has become a fan favorite. Even so, he hasn’t seemed to be able to win over the coaching staff since joining Dallas and the new coaching regime could be even harder to impress given the additions they made this offseason.
