JuJu Smith-Schuster: 5 Trades to find wide receiver a long-term home
2. Miami Dolphins
Call it tanking, call it a full rebuild or call it whatever term you prefer, the Miami Dolphins have employed a clear strategy over the last few years. General manager Chris Grier tore the roster down to the studs so that he could construct a team that could potentially compete for a Super Bowl with new head coach Brian Flores.
Flores proved his merits on the sidelines in 2019, winning five games with a roster many projected to go 0-16 or something close to it. But now the rebuild is in motion, headlined by the addition of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With that addition, several draft picks invested in building the offensive line and heavy spending on defense in free agency, Miami is on the rise.
For as talented as Tagovailoa is as a young quarterback prospect, though, he can’t do it without weapons to throw to. And while DeVante Parker finally had a breakout performance in 2019 and undrafted rookie Preston Williams flashed before getting injured, the Dolphins need a weapon who can offer more in the passing game.
A JuJu Smith-Schuster trade would give the Dolphins and Tua that type of player. His methodical and technical style of play would fit perfectly with Parker and his ability to stretch the field and really help to diversify the weaponry in Miami. With that and his youth, meaning a long career still ahead, the Dolphins could be a sleeper for this type of trade.
