JuJu Smith-Schuster: 5 Trades to find wide receiver a long-term home
1. Green Bay Packers
While every team we’ve talked about to this point would be wise to make a JuJu Smith-Schuster trade, none of them make more sense than the Green Bay Packers. Given the situation the team is in and given what Smith-Schuster has shown in his young career, the fit couldn’t be more perfect.
Leading up to the 2020 draft, all of the talk about the Packers was about getting Aaron Rodgers more weapons in the passing game outside of Davante Adams to try and make a run at another Super Bowl. Instead, general manager Brian Gutekunst threw everyone a curveball. Not only did he trade up in the first round to draft quarterback Jordan Love, Rodgers’ potential successor, but he also didn’t select a single wide receiver in a class bursting with riches at the position.
Subsequently, the need to upgrade the passing offense remains dire in Green Bay. They could have some moves left to make but none would be as impactful as trading for Smith-Schuster. He’s proven he can be an elite threat in an aerial attack, especially when paired with another elite player. He would have that with Adams.
Not only would Smith-Schuster help open up the offense now with Rodgers but, if the Packers were to trade for the wideout and then sign him to a long-term deal, he could be a weapon for Love whenever the young quarterback does take over. If any deal is to happen, Green Bay would be making a mistake to not be fully invested in making this trade.
