After a dominant 14-2 season where they claimed the first seed in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens look to make another run at winning a Super Bowl.

Based on strength of schedule, the Baltimore Ravens face the easiest route to the playoffs in 2020. According to CBS Sports, Baltimore’s opponents in 2020 combined for a .437 winning percentage last season. No other team faces a schedule where their opponents combined for a winning percentage below .455. It’s early, but the Ravens look primed for another run at the top seed in the AFC.

Baltimore faces the top-ranked teams from last season in the other three AFC conferences, but that includes the New England Patriots, who could own a top-ten draft pick in 2021. The Ravens also face the AFC South and NFC East, which are arguably two of the three weakest divisions in the entire league.

It could be difficult for Baltimore and Lamar Jackson to match their success from 2019. The Ravens only lost two games and Jackson became the second quarterback in NFL history to run for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He’s capable of matching his MVP performance in 2019, but no player has won back-to-back MVPs since Peyton Manning in 2008 and 2009.

Even if Jackson and Baltimore’s record-setting ground game take a step back in 2020, the team’s defense is more than enough to carry the franchise to another ten-win season. Baltimore’s defense already boasted four Pro Bowlers last year, and the team made several offseason additions.

The Ravens traded for Pro Bowl defensive end Calais Campbell and signed Derek Wolfe. The team then drafted linebackers Malik Harrison and Patrick Queen, who could both start this coming season. Assuming Matt Judon plays under his franchise tag designation, the defense will retain all of its stars from last year.

Based on their 2020 opponents, the Ravens look primed for another year with a top-two seed in the AFC.
