The Green Bay Packers have a few final holes to fill on their roster. Here are five free agent targets following the 2020 NFL Draft.
Are the Green Bay Packers finished signing free agents prior to the start of training camp? Following the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft, several intriguing players remain at positions the Packers lack depth.
In what was one of the most talent-rich drafts for the wide receiver position ever, Green Bay elected not to select a single receiver with any of their nine draft picks. The only receiver the Packers have added this offseason is Devin Funchess, who only played in one game last season before breaking his collarbone.
General manager Brian Gutekunst stated after the draft that the team feels comfortable with where the position is at, despite having only one player — Davante Adams — eclipse the 500-yard receiving mark in 2019.
The Packers could use a speedy receiver to give a spark to their offense. Having a vertical threat not only helps take the top off the defense, but it also opens up other intermediate routes underneath for other players. If the Packers want to get better, they should acquire a speed threat at receiver.
Additionally, the team’s run defense was atrocious last season. During the regular season, Green Bay’s defense allowed 4.7 yards per carry. Signing another veteran defensive lineman should be a priority before the start of training camp. The team signed Treyvon Hester, but he figures to be more of a rotational player on the defensive line.
Luckily for the Packers, there’s still plenty of talented veterans available on the free agent market. And the best part is that the team won’t have to give up future compensatory draft picks in order to sign them. Here are five players Green Bay should target following the 2020 NFL Draft.
