Scouting Report. player. Vic Beasley. 9. 35. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Tennessee Titans

There was a point where Vic Beasley looked to be one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. He was taken eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Clemson and by his second season in the league, he was a star.

Beasley, who had a respectable four sacks as a rookie (playing on the edge in the NFL takes time to master, so rookie numbers are usually low) broke out as a sophomore as he led the NFL with 15.5 sacks.

Atlanta was one of the hottest teams in the league that season and were able to play in the Super Bowl. That ended up going awry as they blew the 28-3 lead, which will live on forever in memes. As for Beasley, he never found the same success he had that year.

In 2017 and 2018, he finished with just five sacks before finally playing well again this past season. Beasley ended up recording a career-high 42 tackles while recording eight sacks. It wasn’t the same as when he tore up the league as a second-year player, but it was enough to get him a one-year contract worth $9.5 million.

There’s a chance this could pay off for the Titans, considering Beasley has shown flashes in the past. However, this feels like an awful lot of money for a guy who has been rather inconsistent thus far in his career.
