Atlanta Falcons schedule 2020: Picks, predictions for every game
Atlanta Falcons 2020 season prediction: 8-8
Unlike the 2019 campaign, the Atlanta Falcons will jump out to a nice start for the regular season schedule and will avoid an early-season collapse like they experienced a year ago in losing seven of their first eight games.
Matt Ryan and company will use the lighter and home-field heavy schedule in the first half of the season to jump out to a nice overall record while putting themselves in the conversation both in the NFC South division and in the NFC standings overall.
But as the season continues to progress, the second half of the schedule will be too daunting for the Falcons although they will still find themselves in the running for a potential NFC Wild Card spot to try and end the postseason drought they’ve had the last two years.
Ultimately, Atlanta will end up improving on its 7-9 record it finished the 2019 season with, improving one game on that mark to finish the 2020 campaign at the .500-mark of 8-8 overall.
The sole fact that the NFC South is going to be very impressive this season, mainly from Tampa Bay and New Orleans, those four games will catch up to Atlanta by the end of the year after getting out to that nice start in the schedule.
The Falcons will still end up finding themselves in the running for a Wild Card spot and a chance to play beyond the regular season for the first time in three years, but the caliber of talent that fills the NFC will likely mean that those two NFC Wild Card spots will require more than eight wins by season’s end.
Atlanta will improve on the 2019 campaign and will take some nice steps forward during the 2020 season, but it’s going to ultimately see its season end once again without a postseason appearance while setting the goal of once again trying to end that playoff-less streak in 2021.
