Green Bay Packers schedule 2020: 3 Toughest, 3 easiest games
By Lucas Schuh
Second Easiest – Week 15 vs. Panthers
Between firing Ron Rivera and cutting Cam Newton, the Panthers are entering a rebuilding period. Carolina drafted entirely on defense, not selecting a single offensive player. However, new head coach Matt Rhule got a huge haul of high-upside defensive prospects that should help this team get back to its roots and build on that side of the ball. Despite that, they have a long way to go.
Despite adding Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback in free agency and having solid weapons led by running back Christian McCaffrey, the offense as a whole still leaves a lot to be desired. McCaffrey is a great weapon but, as we saw last season, there’s only so much he can do by himself. The Packers should be able to take care of the young Panthers relatively easily.
Second Toughest – Week 3 at Saints
Drew Brees is getting up there in age but the Saints are still one of the league’s best teams. They have a top-tier quarterback but also one of the best top-to-bottom rosters as well.
Michael Thomas is an elite wide receiver in the league and they got better in the 2020 offseason around him, adding Emmanuel Sanders. Elsewhere, the team also signed veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins to bolster the secondary and drafted well, despite having limited picks, to help the offensive line the passing game.
Much like the aforementioned game against the Bucs, this is going to be incredibly difficult for the Packers not just because of the opponent but because they must go on the road. Green Bay will have to be at their best to pick up the win here.
