15. player. 28. . . . Derek Carr

It’s a shame Jon Gruden seems determined to replace Derek Carr at some point in the near future. The young quarterback made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2015 through 2017, and he can still perform at that level. However, since Gruden returned to the team, the Raiders have suffered setbacks on their offensive line and traded away Carr’s best supporting pieces on both sides of the ball.

Of course a franchise that trades away Amari Cooper and Khalil Mack will struggle! Of course the team that drafts Damon Arnette and Kolton Miller in the first round can’t put together a winning season! What else do you expect? And despite all of the questionable decisions made by the front office and coaching staff, Carr somehow turns into the scapegoat.

Last season, Carr led the Raiders to a 7-9 record despite his two best wide receivers being Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams. However, Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller helped ease some of Carr’s burden, and the quarterback completed 70.4 percent of his pass attempts during the season for 4,054 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He finished the year with a career-high 100.8 passer rating.

If the Raiders do bench or trade Carr, the franchise won’t find another quarterback with his level of talent for four or five years.
