We finally know what the San Francisco 49ers schedule and the path back to the top of the NFC looks like. But can they avoid a Super Bowl hangover?

Sometimes, it’s better to know that you don’t have a chance than to come up just short of a Super Bowl victory. I’m not going to rehash the events of last year for the San Francisco 49ers faithful. You all have been reliving those events since February.

Instead, I’d like to offer up hope for San Francisco fans. With the release of the NFL schedule, the 49ers’ path back to the Super Bowl looks easier than anticipated. The team received some favorable breaks from the schedule makers, as they will only face one team with a winning record in the first quarter of the season.

They also play three of their final five contests at home, with their lone road trips being in Dallas and Glendale.

The 49ers did their best to stay the same this offseason, with their losses in free agency being offset with younger talent in the draft. The 49ers used their 13th overall selection received in the DeForest Buckner trade to draft his replacement, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw out of South Carolina. They also used their late first-round pick to draft Emmanuel Sanders’ replacement, the versatile Brandon Aiyuk out of Arizona State.

The main difference for this 49ers team is intangible in nature, as they now understand what they can achieve with a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo, a fierce rushing attack, and a top-three defense. Will last year’s Super Bowl loss fuel a revenge tour in 2020 that culminates into a championship? Or will this team suffer a Super Bowl hangover like those before them?

Let’s take a look at the schedule and see what we can surmise about the 49ers’ season.
