2021 NFL Mock Draft: Trevor Lawrence tank pays off for Jaguars, Trey Lance to Raiders
There’s no question that the Dallas Cowboys were one of the big winners of the 2020 draft. However, one curiosity in the class was they didn’t address what many called their biggest need, which is safety. They have a stopgap in place with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to pair with Xavier Wods but now they get Hamsah Nasirildeen to be the future at the position once Clinton Dix leaves.
The 2020 season at Florida State could be huge for Nasirildeen. He played extremely well in 2019 but there’s still some rawness to his game. Joe Marino of The Draft Network spoke to the Seminoles safety’s incredible physical attributes:
"Physically gifted. Features great length and an exciting frame to grow into. His stocky build is noticeable from the waist down and it’s apparent that he isn’t anywhere near maxed out in the upper half. Explosive and fluid mover in all directions, rounding out his highly appealing physical skill set. Has some impressive flashes of a quick trigger and attacking downhill. Ball production is lacking but there are exciting instances on tape of him confidently attacking the football in the air. Natural athlete that is comfortable in space."
Players that are 6-4, 215 pounds shouldn’t be able to do all the things Nasirildeen is capable of as he can play a hybrid role and move all over the field, be it in the box or dropping into coverage. He’s the type of chess piece Dallas’ defense has long lacked and could be a needle-mover for the Cowboys.
