Pick Analysis. IOL. 32. player. Scouting Report. Creed Humphrey. 124. Oklahoma

In the most shocking yet not all that shocking move in the first round of this year’s draft, the Kansas City Chiefs elected to not improve their defense but, rather, to add another weapon on offense. So what makes us think they won’t go after another player to help Patrick Mahomes and the offense in 2021, this time targeting someone to help in the trenches?

Creed Humphrey has a case to be the best interior offensive lineman in the 2021 NFL Draft class. The Oklahoma product is an elite player who could’ve come out in 2020. Neal Driscoll of Pro Football Network broke down what makes Humphrey such a valuable NFL prospect:

"His best traits are his overwhelming power, his ability to play with a terrific pad level, and as mentioned above, his ability to win with leverage. Out of all of the 2021 offensive linemen, you’d be hard-pressed to find any that have the power that Humphrey possesses. He is built short and compact, so when he fires out of his stance and stays low, he can control his opposition with ease. His power at the point of attack is elite, as is his hand usage. His hand placement and ability to lock onto defenders is exceptional."

Humphrey would be an upgrade at either guard spot or even at center in Kansas City. The versatility he would bring would give the Chiefs another upgrade on what is already the league’s best offense. And at the end of the day, KC wins with the ball in their hands, so it makes sense that they look to stay elite on that side of the ball however they’re able to.
