1. Drew Brees and Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints
While the Buccaneers flash greater weapons, we’ve never seen Brady play with his new Pro Bowl teammates. However, Drew Brees and Michael Thomas are an established duo with four years of excellent production behind them. Even though Brees missed five games last season, his connection with Thomas is undeniable.
During his 19-year career, Brees has played with many successful wide receivers. The former second-round pick helped establish Marques Colston as New Orleans’ franchise leader in almost every significant statistical receiving category. He’s also spent stints playing with Curtis Conway, Brandin Cooks, Vincent Jackson, and Keenan McCardell. However, he’s never played with a receiver like Thomas before.
Last season, Thomas earned his second consecutive First-Team All-Pro selection. The former second-round pick also broke Marvin Harrison’s single-season receptions record, producing 149 in 16 games. He led the league with 1,725 receiving yards and tied a single-season career-high with nine touchdown receptions. In his first four seasons, Thomas produced 470 receptions, 5,512 yards, 32 touchdowns, and he won the Offensive Player of the Year award in 2019.
Towards the end of last season, especially during the playoffs, Bress began to show his age. The 41-year-old quarterback recently signed a two-year contract with the Saints, meaning his career is nearing an end. However, Brees still led the NFL by completing 74.3 percent of his pass attempts, and the veteran quarterback posted a career-high 116.3 passer rating. He’s still an elite quarterback.
