The Dallas Cowboys brought in an all-new coaching staff which will allow these five players to improve immensely upon their 2019 campaigns

This is a huge season coming up for the Dallas Cowboys as they’re looking to put an 8-8 finish behind them. It was a fitting record to send former head coach Jason Garrett off with, considering he was known for his 8-8 records.

With Garrett out of Dallas, Mike McCarthy is taking over as the head coach and he has replaced nearly every assistant. The biggest change happens to be on the defensive side of the ball, where Mike Nolan will be replacing Rod Marinelli, who had worn out his welcome as well.

As for the offensive side of the ball, McCarthy retained Kellen Moore, who did well in his first season as the offensive coordinator last year but it was evident when Garrett would step in and put the brakes on Moore’s offense.

With all these changes coming, the players for Dallas are hoping for bigger things for themselves. Here, we dive into the roster and identify five returning players who should show significant improvement this season under the new staff.

Honorable Mention: Dak Prescott, Quarterback

Dak Prescott makes the list as an honorable mention, and not a top-five candidate, simply because he likely won’t have better numbers from last season. Prescott finished with 4,902 yards which left him just one-yard shy of the team record. He also threw 30 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions. Those numbers will be hard to beat.

Having said that, he can improve as a playmaker overall. There were still too many times when the Cowboys came up short in big moments and not all of that was on Prescott. Sure, he made some errors (which players don’t?) but he was also put in some unfavorable positions by a staff determined to force-feed the run even when Dak was dealing.

This season, Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore will have no qualms about throwing it when Prescott is in the zone. That will allow him to shine in the bigger moments while not taking the ball out of his hands when the team needs him most.
