2. Charvarius Ward

Two years ago, the Chiefs pulled off a trade with the Dallas Cowboys that resulted in Charvarius Ward coming on board. While this didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, this ended up working wonders for the defense.

At the time, Ward was just considered an undrafted free agent who previously signed with the Cowboys and would be looking to make a case for playing time as a member of the Chiefs as a result of displaying an impressive training camp.

After appearing in 13 games (two starts) as a rookie, Ward played well enough to earn a permanent starting role this past season, and played a key role in helping Kansas City win their first Super Bowl in 50 years.

With the impact made by Ward, it seems highly unlikely the Chiefs would be willing to give up on the former Middle Tennessee State star before the regular season begins, but also the money factor could always come into play.

Thanks to Ward previously joining the NFL as an undrafted rookie, the cornerback will be playing for less than $1 million in base salary for 2020, meaning Kansas City or another team will have to give him a hefty raise at some point.

If the Chiefs aren’t willing to pay Ward the future hefty contract he deserves, maybe the Seahawks would be up for it.
