NFL Trade Targets 2020: One player every team should trade for this offseason
AFC West
Denver Broncos: Alejandro Villanueva, OT, Steelers
You have to give credit to Broncos GM John Elway. He’s put a lot of pieces around second-year quarterback Drew Lock this offseason: receivers Jerry Jeudy and K.J Hamler, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam and center Lloyd Cushenberry III were added in the draft. He also picked up running back Melvin Gordon and guard Graham Glasgow in free agency. Overall, a solid offseason for Elway and head coach Vic Fangio.
However, there’s still one major hole: left tackle. Former first-rounder Garett Bolles is one of the league’s worst starters at the position, so Lock needs someone he can rely on to protect his back. How about Alejandro Villanueva? He had an up and down 2019 season but he’s still much better than Bolles. Plus, he’d be another solid veteran addition to a line that’s been remade over the last two offseasons. A third- or fourth-rounder might be enough to entice Pittsburgh into making a deal.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Robinson, CB, Saints
Honestly, the Super Bowl champs don’t have a lot of holes. Of course, that’s not surprising. Their offense is arguably the best in the league, and their defense was vastly improved in coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s first campaign.
Yet, there are still positions that can use some improvement. Cornerback is the number one spot that GM Brett Veach should address, as the position is very thin when it comes to depth. Starting cornerback Bashaud Breeland is in legal trouble and could miss time this season. It would be ideal for the team to go after a corner that can play both inside and outside. Patrick Robinson wouldn’t be a bad option, and should only go for a Day 3 pick.
Las Vegas Raiders: Tarvarius Moore, S, 49ers
The Raiders still have plenty of cap space and needs both on their defensive line and in their secondary. The secondary will be easier to tackle, as there are a number of potentially available defensive backs out there.
Tarvarius Moore showed last season that he is able to start and play at a solid level for the NFC champs but right now he’s out of a starting position. However, with the Raiders, he should be able to start right away. He’s a young defensive back but proved himself on the brightest stages the NFL has to offer. Although it may take a third-rounder to get him, it would be a worthy addition to the young Raiders defense.
Los Angeles Chargers: Tyler Kroft, TE, Bills
Hunter Henry is one of the best tight ends in the league but there’s a reason why the Chargers only brought him back on the franchise tag: his injury history. Behind him right now, Los Angeles has Virgil Green and a couple of unproven players. It would be wise to upgrade that position.
Although the Bills had the breakout of Dawson Knox at tight end last season, there’s a very good chance they want to hold onto Tyler Kroft. After all, they only signed him a year ago. However, if the Chargers can entice them with a third-rounder, it might be a good idea to pull the trigger. The Bills are deep at receiver and can afford to deal Kroft for the right price.
