Jamal Adams trade rumors: 5 Best landing spots if safety is dealt
2. Seattle Seahawks
This might seem like an odd inclusion for a number of reasons. For one, the Seattle Seahawks have already had the opportunity to keep a high-profile defensive player in-house this offseason by re-signing Jadeveon Clowney. Yet, all signs point to them not doing so, largely due to financial constraints. So trading for Jamal Adams and then signing him to an extension would be odd in that regard.
Beyond that, the Seahawks aren’t necessarily hurting at safety after making a trade last season to improve the position. They landed Quandre Diggs from the Detroit Lions in a deal to pair him with Bradley McDougald, who has played well since arriving in Seattle. So again, they have invested at the position and don’t have the greatest need.
Having said that, I look at this Seahawks defense and see a need for a trump card. For as good as Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright are at linebacker, they can only impact the game in so many ways. Meanwhile, their front four has taken a big hit and could struggle this season while their cornerback group has questions outside of Shaquill Griffin.
When the Legion of Boom was thriving, they had superstar safeties in Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. The Seahawks, if they want to capitalize on what Russell Wilson is doing for this team right now, could go in on trying to construct LOB 2.0 by pairing Diggs and Adams together and allowing McDougald to move around. Frankly, it’s not the worst idea in the world as it would give Seattle a bonafide ace in the hole that they currently lack on defense.
