5. Tavon Austin, Free Agent

At the start of free agency, Tavon Austin was on my list of potential free agent targets for the Titans. The former West Virginia phenom would slot in nicely in the WR4 spot at a team-friendly rate as well. Austin’s elite speed combined with his shiftiness would shine as a complimentary piece in the Titans offense, especially with the gadget plays offensive coordinator Authur Smith loves to call.

Austin’s career hasn’t lived up to the billing of being a first-round receiver (one drafted before DeAndre Hopkins and Keenan Allen too, I might add). The best year of his career thus far was in 2015 when he nearly had 1,000 total yards on offense, which helped him sign a four-year extension with the (then) St. Louis Rams in 2016.

Eventually, Austin was dealt to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 where his production saw a steeper drop. Even still, he proved to be a valuable asset to the offense, even if a rarely-used piece in the passing game.

If the team were to go after Tavon Austin, it would have to be with a specific niche in mind. Austin would fall under the “low-risk, high-reward’ tier of possible additions for Tennessee and would potentially be worth a look at this point in the offseason.
