Tennessee Titans: 5 Speedy wide receivers to potentially add
By John Laird
3. Taylor Gabriel, Free Agent
Veteran pass-catcher Taylor Gabriel once again finds himself in the free-agent market after the Chicago Bears decided to part ways with him halfway through his four-year deal. 2019 was a disappointing season for Gabriel, who fought through multiple concussions to appear in nine games and log 29 catches for 352 yards and four touchdowns.
The move to release Taylor Gabriel is a somewhat surprising one. 2018 was Gabriel’s best statistical season, hauling in just under 70 catches for 688 yards. When you consider the fact that Mitch Tribusky has been slinging passes for the Bears the last few seasons, those are pretty impressive numbers.
Gabriel is an extremely solid fit for what the Titans need at the position. Not only does he possess the speed the Titans desperately need, but he’s made his living off mostly off of being a productive complementary piece.
With the Titans being so top-heavy at the position, this often overlooked aspect is important in this situation. Over the course of his career, Gabriel has averaged about 40 catches for 477 yards playing in the shadows of star players such as Julio Jones and Allen Robinson.
Taylor Gabriel is certainly worth a flier as training camp approaches.
