5. Cam Sims

Cam Sims is a big dude. Listed at 6-5 and 215 pounds, Sims was easily the biggest wide receiver on the team last season. In fact, he was the only wide receiver on the team that was over 6-2 in 2019. Washington definitely added a little bit more size this offseason. Sims is still the tallest though. And having that big target area is never a bad thing.

There’s also the fact that he provided a nice spark in the preseason last year. That’s likely something he could do again in 2020. If he does, he will show Rivera just how important he could be.

Sims has been a fan-favorite in his time in Washington. Like Quinn, he’s still just 24 years old and has shown what he can do when given the chance. Now, Sims only has two career receptions for 27 yards. Those two receptions came in 2019.

However, it doesn’t take much to show what type of a weapon he could be when it comes to possession plays and red zone time. He’s an athletic big target. That’s something that can come in handy for any quarterback, let alone an extremely young one who is still learning.

Haskins has all types of potential. And giving him someone like Sims (even just to use sparingly) seems like a good idea. Due to that, it’s hard to imagine Sims does not have an inside track on a roster spot.

Don’t expect the receiver to have a major role. But he should be a nice depth piece that could come up big if called upon.
