10 Dream NFL Quarterback-Wide Receiver combinations we’d love to see
By Samuel Teets
8. Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Evans
After Antonio Brown left in the 2019 offseason, Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. At the time of his injury, Roethlisberger was a top-10 quarterback. However, his injury combined with the loss of significant offensive weapons to cripple Pittsburgh’s offense in 2019.
Big Ben is finally throwing again and looks primed for a comeback. He will still face challenges in 2020 though because Pittsburgh’s offense is still missing a reliable top pass-catcher. In the past, Brown opened the door for young receivers like JuJu Smith-Schuster to perform at a high level. While Mike Evans isn’t on the same level as prime A.B., he’s still capable of adding a whole new dimension to Pittsburgh’s offense.
Last season, Evans made the third Pro Bowl of his career. He only caught 67 passes but tallied 1,157 yards (89.0 yards per game) and eight touchdowns. While he’s never cracked the top three wide receivers in the league, Evans is a consistent force. Since entering the NFL in 2014, he’s never produced fewer than 1,000 yards in a single season.
This pairing might not be one every fan wants to see, but I’d be curious to know how much damage Roethlisberger can cause at his current age with an elite receiver.
