Toughest Game No. 1: Kansas City Chiefs, Week 8

New York’s only hope of winning this game is if Patrick Mahomes doesn’t play for some reason. Otherwise, this game is already over. Kansas City went 12-4 last season despite Mahomes missing two games. The team’s only regular-season losses when Mahomes played came against Houston, Indianapolis, and Tennessee. The Chiefs went on to beat the Texans and Titans in the playoffs and won the Super Bowl.

Mahomes and the Chiefs enter the 2020 NFL season as the top-ranked team and quarterback in the league. With an unfair number of weapons on offense and an underrated defense, the Chiefs have a good shot at repeating as Super Bowl champions.

Easiest Game No. 1: New England Patriots, Week 9

Bill Belichick always gives the Patriots a chance of winning close games, but New England has one of the worst rosters in the NFL. The team’s only offensive standout is Julian Edelman, and he suffered a case of the drops late last season. Left guard, Joe Thuney is also a reliable asset. Otherwise, the offense relies on unproven or aging players.

New England’s defense is stronger than its offense. Stephon Gilmore, Dont’a Hightower, and Devin McCourty provide the team with veteran leadership, but they’re New England’s only defensive standouts. The Patriots lost three of their four starting linebackers this offseason, and the defensive line looks gutted.

The Patriots selected several developmental players in the 2020 NFL Draft, which makes me think the team is planning to return to competitive football within the next two or three seasons. However, the 2020 season looks like a lost cause. New York should handle the Patriots in both of their matchups (Weeks 9 and 17) this year.
