AFC South: Indianapolis Colts

Last year, the Indianapolis Colts finished with a record of 7-9, which put them in third place in the AFC South. They were still close to contending, finishing just a couple of games behind the 9-7 Tennessee Titans who made the playoffs as a wildcard team. At 10-6, the Houston Texans won their division but they took a big step back when Bill O’Brien traded away DeAndre Hopkins. Tennessee kept their roster intact but didn’t make any huge additions.

As for the Colts, they were able to make some moves that put them in contention for the division title this year. Their biggest move, which is sure to be the most impactful as well, was signing veteran quarterback Philip Rivers. He won’t be the long-term answer, but he should do well for them for the next couple of seasons while they groom their possible future starter, Jacob Eason, who they landed in the draft.

Also added in the draft was Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor. Marlon Mack has been a solid running back for them but Taylor could be quite an upgrade for them. Other offensive weapons added include USC receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who they took at No. 34 overall.

A couple of underrated moves include drafting Dezmon Patmon late and signing Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship as an undrafted free agent. The Colts did plenty this offseason to improve their roster and that makes them the offseason winners in the AFC South.
