NFL Uniforms: Best combination each team wore in 2019
By Zach Cohen
Running through the best NFL uniforms each team wore in the 2019 season.
Who doesn’t love jerseys? Over the years, I’ve bought countless jerseys of all colors bought, usually for them to be stored away in my closet. But in the NFL, jerseys are only half of a team’s on-field look. For a team to create the best look possible, sometimes they go above-and-beyond to make NFL uniforms that best display their identities.
Some teams even rock out alternate uniforms every now and then to the joy of their fans. After all, change can be a good thing. Although, some teams just keep it simple and pay homage to their storied histories. That’s fine too, but there are some looks that should be held high on a pedestal and some that should be thrown in the trash.
Today, I focus on the positives and applaud certain uniforms from every NFL team. (For part one of this 5-part series, check out yesterday’s edition to see what NFL uniform designs have best led to Super Bowl success.)
Best AFC East uniforms
Buffalo Bills: Red Color Rush
Since the franchise’s creation in 1960, the Bills have never worn red uniforms. When they unveiled them in the 2015 season, they were a breath of fresh air. It’s not that Buffalo has bad uniforms, it’s just nice to see something different. The all-red threads are smooth yet stylish enough to really stand out on the field. The blue accents are a subtle compliment, too.
Miami Dolphins: Aqua Throwbacks
It’s a shame Miami only wore these once last year, though they did release white versions that they wore twice. The sleekness and simplicity of the font is a nice change from the team’s current font, which isn’t bad either. The only negative of the uniforms are the gray facemasks, but we’ll overlook that because they’re throwbacks.
New York Jets: White Jersey, Green Pants
It was a toss-up for the Jets, though I applaud them for abandoning their atrocious old uniforms in favor of their current look. I rarely enjoy white jerseys (they never stay white), but these looked great during the three times they were worn.
The reason: The Jets’ colors are pretty dark, so it makes the white pop out even more. The green pants allowed for the white to be the secondary color of the look, which makes the uniform feature two main colors instead of one.
New England Patriots: Navy Color Rush
New England only wore three uniform sets last season, and their traditional two are a bit too “2000s” for me. By default, that leaves their Color Rush uniforms, which have since become the team’s permanent look.
I like the stripes on the shoulders and the minimal use of red. Red and blue are two of the primary colors, so one has to be more prominent than the other for a uniform to look good. That’s the case here.
