Grades for the NFL uniforms of all 32 teams in the 2020 season.

When it comes to liking or disliking NFL uniforms, fans overrate the meaning and story behind a uniform. While it should play some part in the success of the team’s look, it shouldn’t be the overbearing rationale of what makes a uniform look good.

If a team’s history is the only reason a uniform is liked, then they’re probably not good-looking uniforms. If you want to see just how good your favorite team’s uniforms actually are, try this test: If a random expansion team made these their uniforms, would they be mocked?

Let’s say the Green Bay Packers never existed and an XFL team came along and took the Packers’ look. I think it’s safe to say they would be endlessly ridiculed. On the other hand, a team is almost nothing without their backstory, so writing off a uniform’s message or story is just as naive as only focusing on the message or story.

It’s tough to disregard bias, which is why it’s understandable if you find yourself angry over the following grades. Opinions are what make us who we are, just as how we deal with that anger defines us.

At the end of the day, if you’re feeling angry about how your favorite team looks, there’s always the bandwagon. Although I hear it’s been pretty crowded ever since Tom Brady left New England.

This is the finale to this weeklong, five-part series on NFL uniforms. Part one examined uniform trends in the Super Bowl, part two praised each team’s best look in 2019, part three suggested one change for every team’s uniforms and part four dished out superlatives for the new uniforms unveiled this offseason.
