1. Diggs’ public displeasure

There is no questioning that Stefon Diggs’ last few seasons in Minnesota have been filled with frustration for the star wide receiver.

Part of that frustration and displeasure with the Vikings spilled out into the public most notably during the 2019 season and throughout the offseason, which ultimately resulted in his exit from Minnesota and the team trading away the young wideout.

With the Vikings focusing more on the running game in recent seasons, Diggs likely felt like he wasn’t fully being utilized as he had been in past years and the way he thought he should be used within the flow of the offense.

In March of this offseason, Diggs basically publicly demanded a trade from Minnesota when he tweeted “It’s time for a new beginning.”

That wasn’t the first display of displeasure from Diggs, however. Last year, Diggs wasn’t present during Minnesota’s offseason workouts while the team said there was nothing to worry about with that situation. But that was one of the first red flags that arose with Diggs at the Vikings.

During the 2019 season, the wide receiver also skipped a practice without notice, crediting that to suddenly coming down with a cold. The team ended up fining him $200,000 for that absence.

Then during the year and up until his trade to Buffalo, Diggs had some in-season rants that initiated trade rumors and his cryptic tweets on social media didn’t help the situation either.

Whether it was the organization’s dedication to the run game or another reason, Diggs wasn’t happy in Minnesota and that’s just another reason why the organization ultimately needed to move on from the wideout this offseason.
