Indianapolis Colts: Rodrigo Blankenship, K

Our first undrafted free agent makes the list as the Indianapolis Colts ended up landing a solid player once the 2020 NFL Draft wrapped up. Kickers don’t always get the love they deserve but even so, it was expected that Rodrigo Blankenship was going to have his name called in the draft after a successful career with the Georgia Bulldogs.

That didn’t happen but it allowed him to choose where to sign and he landed a deal with a dome-stadium team, which will only help his accuracy as he moves to the next level. Blankenship spent five seasons with the Bulldogs after redshirting as a freshman, and it felt as though the SEC kicker was there for an eternity.

Blankenship was steady and reliable for the Dawgs, knocking in 80-of-97 field goals which gave him a career average of 82.5 percent. As for his extra points, he was an impressive 200-for-200 in his career.

In Indianapolis, Blankenship will compete with Chase McLaughlin for the right to replace Adam Vinatieri, who is one of the best NFL kickers of all-time. McLaughlin spent time with three teams in 2019 and was 18-of-23 on field goals. Blankenship should be able to win that battle and if he does, he could look to be the most important rookie for the Colts this season.
